Our Naturopathic Clinic
Our Mission: Achieving Wellness Naturally through Effective, Personalized Healthcare
The Washington Center for Complementary Medicine reflects the changing vision of healthcare today. In fact, many patients come to us due to their lack of success or satisfaction with the current medical system. At WCCM, we are committed to your individual wellness, ensuring that you live a healthier, improved quality of life. Our goal is to provide effective, personalized care that identifies and treats the underlying cause of your illness utilizing viable, science-based medicine. Our focus on wellness and health management, rather than disease management, results in long-term health solutions while eliminating the risk of potentially dangerous side effects or complications. Our naturopathic approach fosters vitality to last throughout a lifetime – you deserve no less.
What is Naturopathic and Complementary Medicine?
Naturopathic Medicine, also referred to as Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM), Functional Medicine or Holistic Medicine, integrates modern scientific medical standards with the healing power of natural, non-invasive therapies.
Educational Standards for naturopathic doctors are comparable to those in conventional medical schools, requiring a pre-med education, followed by post-graduate work. The curriculum covers basic medical and clinical diagnostic skills such as Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, Radiology and Minor Surgery, in addition to core curriculum courses such as Botanical and Homeopathic Medicine and Nutritional Science. Medical students must complete clinical rotations or residencies and national board exams are required for Naturopathic Doctor certification.
Here are the Principles that Guide Our Approach to Your Healthcare
The Healing Power of Nature – The body has the inherent ability to establish, restore and maintain health. Our physicians identify imbalances and support this natural ability of the body to heal.
Identify and Treat the Causes – Symptoms are alerting us to the beginning of a disease process, but are not the cause of illness. Addressing the underlying causes of disease rather than simply eliminating the symptoms is a primary focus of our practice.
Treat the whole Person – Our physicians take into account the complex interrelationship of the physical, mental, emotional, genetic, dietary, and environmental aspects of health.
Prevention – Our treatment philosophy emphasizes prevention and focuses to identify and reduce the risks of, and susceptibility to disease.
Above All, Do No Harm – We use methods and substances that minimize the risk of harmful side effects and apply no more intervention than necessary to restore and maintain optimal health.
Empower the Patient – We educate our patients on how their choices affect their overall health. We strive for a strong doctor-patient partnership and work to develop an effective treatment program that fits each patient’s lifestyle and wellness goals.
